Frequently Asked Questions
- What does "current weight" mean?
- Current weight is the portion of your total course grade that has already been graded — homework, quizzes, midterms, participation, etc. If your final exam is worth 30% of the course, then 70% is your current weight. Enter 70 in that field.
- What if I need over 100%?
- If the calculator shows "Not achievable," your current grade and the weight breakdown mean you cannot reach your target even with a perfect final score. At that point, consider adjusting your target grade downward or speaking with your professor about extra credit options.
- What if I need between 95% and 100%?
- A needed score in this range is theoretically possible but requires a near-perfect performance on your final. It is worth studying hard for, but you should also prepare a fallback plan in case.
- Can I use this for any weighted grading system?
- Yes. The formula works for any two-component weighted system — current work + final exam.
