About This Calculator
Find the final sale price after any discount — or stack multiple discounts the correct way. A 20% off coupon applied to an already-10%-off item is 28% off total, not 30%. This calculator does the math right every time.
How It Works
Enter the original price and up to three successive discounts. Each discount is applied multiplicatively to the running price — not added together. The result shows the final sale price, total amount saved, and the effective combined discount percentage.
The Formula
Sale = price × Π(1 − dᵢ ÷ 100)
- Sale
- final sale price
- price
- original (full) price
- dᵢ
- each discount percentage in sequence
Frequently Asked Questions
- Why doesn't 20% off + 10% off equal 30% off?
- Stacked discounts multiply, not add. After 20% off, the price is 80% of the original. The second 10% is applied to that lower price — 10% of 80% is only 8%, giving 28% total off.
- How many discounts can I stack?
- Up to three successive discounts using the "+ Add stacked discount" button. This covers the most common retail scenarios (store sale + coupon + loyalty discount).
- Does the order of stacked discounts matter?
- No — multiplication is commutative, so the final price is the same regardless of which discount is applied first.
